Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY): How to Check and Download the Beneficiary List State-Wise

Nitesh

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a flagship housing scheme launched by the Government of India in 2015 to provide affordable housing to the economically weaker sections, low-income groups, and middle-income groups across rural and urban areas. With a vision of "Housing for All," the scheme aims to construct millions of pucca houses with basic amenities by December 2025, recently extended from its earlier 2024 deadline.

Why Was PMAY Introduced?

PMAY was launched to address the housing crisis faced by millions of Indians living in kutcha houses or without shelter. It has two components:

  • PMAY-Gramin (PMAY-G): Targets rural households, aiming to build 2.95 crore pucca houses by March 2025.

  • PMAY-Urban (PMAY-U): Focuses on urban poor, with a goal of constructing 1.12 crore houses by December 2025.

The scheme provides financial assistance, such as subsidies of up to ₹1.20 lakh (plains) or ₹1.30 lakh (hilly areas) for PMAY-G, and interest subsidies of up to 6.5% on home loans under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) for PMAY-U.
